ICHEF Takes Victory in Davao Culinary Cup 2018

 The excitement and tiresome preparations felt by the competitors and trainers all boiled down to a feeling of elation as the Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship brought home 13 bronze medals during the most prestigious three-day culinary event in Mindanao—the Davao Culinary Cup 2018 powered by Philippine Culinary Cup held at SM Lanang Premier on August 23-25, 2018. The ICHEF Competitors medalists were Maria Theresa Cecista, Grand Diploma in International Culinary and Hospitality Management-1st Year student who prepared Vanilla Bean Pannacotta in Seaweeds Jelly, Tartatine, Malagos Dark and White Chocolate Mousse, and Pavlova with Fruits for Plated Desserts category; Claryll Remon, Australian Grand Diploma in Commercial Cookery, Professional Baking, and Hospitality Services-1st Year student who prepared Durian Moose and Mango Gelatin Tower for Fantasy Davao Desserts; Ellah Mae Carcallas, Australian Grand Diploma in Commercial Cookery, Professional Baking, and Hospitality Services-1st Year, Faith Antonette Alpay and Julianne Salise, Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management- 1st year students who prepared Kinilaw sa Gulama, Sinigang na Balut, Mosaka and Fried Tapol Rice for Filipino Cuisine; Sara Fe Ticao, Ma. Jeanne Quiblat, and Jan Roger Andaya, Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management-4th year students with Team Captain Chef Stephen Pollard who prepared Pork Tenderloin Stuffed with Roasted Garlic, Fondant Potatoes and Caraway Cream Sauce, White and Dark Chocolate Mousse with Strawberry Anne and Candied Orange Zest, Avocado and Shrimp Salsa, Avocado and Lemon Puree with Pickled Carrot and Cucumber for Dream Team Challenge; Micho Frankie Zeng, Divine Jumalon, and Earl Renan Panes, Grade 12 Senior High School Culinary studentswith Team Captain Chef Rene John Custodio who prepared Shrimp Cake with Mango Salsa and Remoulade Sauce, Herb Crusted Beef with Mashed Potatoes and Peppercorn Sauce, and Matcha Lava Cake with Caramelized Strawberry, Poached Meringue and White Chocolate Sauce for Dream Team Challenge.

ICHEF’s competitors were cheered by their classmates, trainers, and staff, headed by the Vice President for Education Development, Ms. Nicole Ilagan Bian with high spirits of determination to bring home the bacon. The competitors all blazed with determination to succeed as they competed with fellow competitors from different schools, hotels, and restaurants. Bearing in mind all the culinary skills they have mastered from ICHEF, they performed at their best, making their way through the competition with flying colors.

Overall, ICHEF participated with 7 competitions: Filipino Cuisine, Young Chefs, Dream Team Challenge, Pasta, Creative Breakfast Challenge, Plated Desserts and Fantasy Davao Desserts. Other competitors from ICHEF wereNyzzell Kate Pilhati, Jade Ira Cuaresma, Jesten Claire Perez, Michael John Bajenting, Jose Lawrence Erojo, and Xavier John Melo Dias for Filipino Cuisine; Krizandrea May De Vera, Yumika Nakamura, Marey Joy Estember, and Erl Dospueblos for Young Chefs; Gladysmae Compracion, Myka Requilman, and Mark Anthony Mariano for Dream Team Challenge; Mark Vinci Elmedolan and Jan Mikhael Shane Ates for Pasta; and Jordan Setoza for Creative Breakfast Challenge.

ICHEF continues to harness culinary skills, passion and gives opportunity to its students in order for them to master the ingredients of success proving its advantage as the leading culinary school in Davao and Mindanao which adheres to its motto of being truly international and truly global.
